If you've spent any time on the Lake Wobegon Trail near St. Joseph, you've probably noticed the mile markers. Along with the mile number and a sign letting you know you're on the Lake Wobegon Trail, there's also a message. 11 messages, to be exact.

"Jacob Wetterling believed in a fair and just world where all children know they are special and deserve to be safe."  You'll find those words, along with Jacob's 11 simple traits, on posters, websites and flyers. My cousin keeps a poster of these traits in her classroom. I thought that was a wonderful idea. You'll also find his 11 traits along the Lake Wobegon Trail. He reminds me to be a better person every time I'm out there.
