Minnesota's home to some pretty cool theme and amusements parks.

Of course, everybody knows MOA's Nickelodeon Universe, newly rebranded Great Wolf Lodge (formerly Waterpark of America) and Valley Fair in Shakopee.

But those are only scratching the surface of unique and fun hot spots around the state.

Here are five underrated theme parks around Minnesota worth visiting:

1. Drive a Tank -- Kasota, MN

I think people forget this experience is available right here in Minnesota. Voted a full 5 out of 5 on Trip Adviser and featured on the likes of ABC News, Fox News, Forbes and NPR, Drive a Tank caters to the thrill-seeker in all of us. Drive tanks, shoot guns, crush cars and blast through houses. At prices ranging from $299 to $2,599, this is probably less a family day out and more a special event or celebration opportunity.

2. Casey's Amusement Park -- Alexandria, MN

Voted 4.5 out of 5 on Trip Adviser, Casey's Amusement Park offers fun for the whole family without the prices or crowds of larger parks like Valley Fair or Nickelodeon Universe. From Go Karts to mini golf, bumper boats to batting cages and more there really is something for everyone! Just an hour and 15 minute drive from St. Cloud -- and open every day May through September -- this is an easy day out with the family.

Ranked the #2 best thing to do in Baxter, MN Three Bear Waterpark and Craguns Laser Tag is a certain hit with the whole family. The kids will love the waterpark's giant splash bucket, tube slide, body slide, and plunge slide while the giant hot tub and lazy river offer a welcome respite for the adults. A huge blacklight, glow-in-the-dark lazer tag arena and 15-game arcade room offer additional fun for everyone.
