When I was a young lad, one of my favorite activities was painting. I really despised school, but the one class I always looked forward to was art. I loved the creative process, and before I was forced into sports and athletics by my parents, I wanted to use my leisure time to improve my painting skills.

Obviously, that never quite happened, as you would be able to tell by taking a look at my terrible excuses for art work that I have stowed away in my closet (half of which are unfinished.) Nevertheless, learning to paint is still on my bucket list. I’ve always found it to be a rather calming and enjoyable activity.

If you’re in the same boat as me and would like to BRUSH up on your painting skills (yes, that was a pun) you might want to check out the “Create A Basic Oil Painting” class. You’ll learn the essential basics of oil painting techniques in this step-by-step guided workshop. You can take it April 7th at The Paramount Visual Arts Center in St. Cloud. The class starts at 4 p.m. and admission is only $70.
