UNDATED -- If you'd like to avoid Black Friday crowds, Lt. Governor Tina Smith has announced an alternative option for you.

All entry fees into Minnesota state parks and recreation areas will be waived as part of "Free Park Friday". There are 75 parks and recreation areas under the state's umbrella, so you've plenty of options.

A few parks will offer some special programs, including: Fire Starting from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Tettegouche State Park on the North Shore, Beavers in Winter from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Whitewater State Park near Winona, and a Family turkey Trek from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Blue Mounds State Park in Luverne.

Plenty of opportunities to not only avoid the Black Friday hassle but to also burn off the 4,500 calories that Americans eat on average on Thanksgiving.
