Next to Star Wars, my favorite movie franchise was Pirates of the Caribbean. I remember when I was 8 years old and my dad took me to see the first installment of the Pirates series – “Curse of the Black Pearl.” I instantly fell in love with it.

I thought the story line was really unique, the action sequences were awesome, and of course, the one and only Captain Jack Sparrow became one of my all time favorite fictional characters. So far the Pirates series has 5 films total, and after seeing the last one I certainly expected the legacy to keep going.

However, it may not be continuing the way that I had initially thought. Disney recently announced that they wanted to “reboot” the series with the writers for Deadpool. When I hear the word “reboot” I can only assume that they are contemplating doing a new story with new characters.

Nothing is set in stone yet, but personally I’m going to be pretty bummed if they don’t keep Johnny Depp involved. I think the original cast and writers were perfect the way they were, but I guess only time will tell what will happen. I have my fingers crossed for the best.
