Personally, I think southern rock is either a genre you love or hate. As someone who was raised in the south, I had southern rock forced on me all the time growing up, so naturally I do my very best to avoid it as an adult.

In all honesty, it makes me cringe. Not my thing. But hey, maybe if had grown up somewhere else I wouldn’t mind it as much. I certainly know a lot of other people who love groups like CCR, ZZ Top, and Molly Hatchet.

But if we’re being honest here, there’s one southern rock group that trumps all of the others. I’m talking about Lynyrd Skynyrd. “Free Bird” “Simple Man” and “Sweet Home Alabama” are some of the most legendary tunes in the history of rock.

Those guys sure knew how to write the hits. If you happen to be a Skynyrd fan, you’ve probably heard by now that they have officially announced their upcoming retirement and are currently on their farewell tour.

Fortunately for all the fans in Minnesota, they recently extended the tour by 6 months and are now playing the Xcel Energy Center on October 5th. The show starts at 7 pm and you can get a ticket online now for as low as $50.
