In her book Emma, Jane Austen writes "One cannot have too large a party. A large party secures its own amusement."

American certainly knows how to throw a party for any number of reasons, be it holiday, sports event, music event, fair, festival or otherwise.

The folks at Genfare broke down the numbers to determine the largest event by state, and Minnesota's State Fair not only claimed title of Minnesota's largest state-wide event but also largest state fair in the country by average daily attendance. Genfare's infograph goes on to include additional statistics such as Legacy (154 years) and Attendance (2 million).

Minnesota's State Fair was one of seven state fairs on the list, the others occurring in Indiana, Iowa, North Dakota, Wyoming, Mississippi and South Carolina.

The largest event in the country is New York's Times Square New Year's Eve while the oldest is Louisiana's two-week long Mardi Gra going on 238 years.
