The Minnesota Wild (0-1-1) gave up a late goal in the third period, and fell short in the shootout, losing to Las Vegas 2-1 Saturday night in St. Paul.

Matt Dumba scored Minnesota's lone goal in the first period, giving the Wild a 1-0 lead that lasted into the third period.

With 1:30 left in the game, and an empty net in the Vegas end, the Golden Knights scored to tie the game at 1-1, forcing overtime.

No scoring in the overtime session pushed things to a shootout, where the Wild would come up one short -- giving the Knights the win and the two points in the standings.

Next: The Wild host the Chicago Blackhawks Thursday night (10/11) at 7:00 PM CT at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. (TV: Fox Sports North, Radio: 1240 WJON)
