We have plenty of things to be proud of here in the land of 10,000 lakes. Whether it’s our sports teams, musical artists, nice people, or awesome craft beers, it’s just a cool place to live (especially in the winter. Buh-duh-ttsss. Don’t worry, I won’t quit my day job.)

Something that we often overlook about the history of our home state is just how many popular movies have been filmed here. Today we’re going to take a look at the most famous ones. Here we go.

  1. The Mighty Duck Series

This should come as no surprise. It’s the only kids hockey film franchise out there. It basically had to come out of Minnesota.

  1. Miracle

Yet another hockey film, except this one is a true story. No better place to shoot this movie than Minnesota.

  1. Juno

I remember when this one came out. To we millennials, it’s a classic. Just the right amount of humor tempered with teenage drama.

  1. Fargo

I don’t think this one really needs a description. It’s the ultimate northern comedy. Enough said.

  1. Purple Rain

For obvious reasons, this is probably the most famous film to come out of Minnesota. Not because it was any good (it wasn’t) but simply because it was Prince. I suppose that’s a good enough reason for me.
