It's been two years since the The Purple One passed away.

New music from Prince will be released this Friday, September 21.

Piano & A Microphone 1983 is a 35-year old cassette tape Prince recorded of himself singing and playing piano at his home studio in Chanhassen, MN. The tape was discovered by Prince's album archivist Michael Howe and will be presented from start to finish as Prince recorded it.

The project will be 35-minutes long and have nine songs including "17 Days," "Purple Rain," "International Lover," and "Strange Relationship" as well as songs by other artists -- Joni Mitchell's "A Case of You" and the old spiritual song "Mary Don't You Weep."

“This raw, intimate recording," says Prince Estate entertainment adviser Troy Carter, "which took place at the start of Prince’s career right before he achieved international stardom, is similar in format to the Piano & A Microphone Tour that he ended his career with in 2016."
