My mother was once a hairdresser. For me, that meant I had a perm as often as my hair would allow me to have a perm. The awful smell, the painful tugging of my otherwise straight locks. I'm not sure how I feel about this.

The good news is that perms today aren't exactly like the memories of perms long ago. Today, it's much softer and relaxed. In fact, they don't even call it a perm anymore. It's now the "American Wave."  And I kind of like it. You can see photos here.

If you've gotten a perm (American Wave) lately, post a photo. And maybe you'll convince me to do the same.
