ST. CLOUD - Two kids were rescued from the Sauk River in St. Cloud Wednesday night. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says the incident started just after 8:00 p.m.

There was a group of four people tubing on the river toward the Mississippi River. They came to the Boy Scout Bridge on the north side of Whitney Park. The group stopped for a while when the tubes the two kids were on broke free and started floating down the river with the kids still on them.

Rescuers from the St. Cloud fire department found 17-year-old Tommy Peterson of St. Cloud and helped him. An anonymous person who lives on the river heard someone screaming for help and called 911. The fire department then rescued seven-year-old Lilly'Auna Stene of St. Cloud.

Both kids floated about a half mile before help arrived. The kids are okay.
