The Minnesota Wild (0-1-0) opened the season with a road loss in Denver last night, falling to the Colorado Avalanche 4-1 (1-0-0) at the Pepsi Center.

Zach Parise started the scoring for the new season with a first period goal giving the WIld a 1-0 lead. The game was tied 1-1 at the end of the first. Colorado scored the lone second period goal, taking a 2-1 lead into the final period.

In the third period the Avalanche added another goal before dumping in an empty-netter to open the season with the 4-1 win.
