Winter Storm Warning Issued for Central & Western Minnesota
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for portions of Central Minnesota in effect from 3 PM Wednesday through Noon Friday for heavy snow.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect to the south of the St. Cloud area including the Twin Cities
Snow will begin advancing into western Minnesota Wednesday afternoon with intensity increasing by evening. Snow, heavy at times, will continue through Thursday before intensity tapers off Thursday night. Total snow accumulations of 8 to 13 inches are possible across much of western and portions of central Minnesota.
A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet and ice will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
From the National Weather Service this morning: A winter storm will bring heavy snow across much of western and northern Minnesota, and northern Wisconsin. The orange shaded regions on the map can expect 8 or more inches of snow. Meanwhile the areas in blue will have warmer temperatures, rain, and much less snow.
