A new list by local Minnesota travel, culture and lifestyle blogger Give Me the Mike features 19 favorite meat markets around Minnesota and western Wisconsin.

"From buffalo blue cheese beef sticks to cheddarwurst summer sausage, venison to filet mignon, meat markets (also known as butcher shops) are known for high quality products full of flavor while providing top level customer service," writes Mike Marcotte. Eager to find out the best meat markets around Minnesota and western Wisconsin, Marcotte took to Facebook, Twitter and Reddit to crowdsource answers. "I didn’t pick these shops," he reiterates. "People voted for them."

Of the 19 butcher shops listed, two are from Wisconsin -- RJ's Meats in Hudson and Louie's Finer Meats in Cumberland. Four of the seventeen Minnesota butcher shops are located around Central Minnesota, including Thielen Meats of Pierz and Thielen Meats of Little FallsMcDonald’s Meats in Clear Lake and St. Joseph Meat Market in St. Joseph.

Both Thielen Meats locations have a 4.9-star rating on Google. They were also voted Best Butcher Shop in Minnesota in 2015 and featured by Amy Thielen's Food Network Show the Heartland Table.

McDonald's Meats has a 4.8-star rating on Google and boasts three gold medals in the German Butcher’s Association competition for their beef snack sticks, beef summer sausage and wieners.

St. Joseph Meat Market has a 4.7-star rating on Google. They've twice been awarded Central Minnesota's Best Meat Market (2016 and 2017); they've also been recognized nationally with their Maple Breakfast Links winning National 1st Place and National Best of Show.
