My wife and I just returned from a whirlwind vacation/one-year anniversary celebration to Europe, and boy was it a trip!

Over the course of 11 days we visited 4 countries -- Iceland, Ireland, London (England) and Paris (France). Each location was so unique and incredible, and we took plenty of photos to remember our trip by.

Here's part three of a four-part series highlighting five photos from our time in each stop.

Following stops in Iceland and Ireland, Katie and I were then off to London for a brief two-day visit.

By now, we were a week into our trip and starting to feel the wear of a busy schedule and fast pace. Just when we were ready for a relaxed break, we got the very opposite.

We found London to be crowded, stressful and overwhelming. Whether on the train with locals or standing in line waiting to get into Westminster Abbey, we were usually lost in a sea of people, desperate for some peace and quiet. The train system was far more complicated than we'd anticipated, but the city was just too large to walk. We felt more on-the-go than we had in either Iceland and Ireland, and we were tiring fast.

All that said, we did manage to see and do some things we'd hoped to, and we're glad we have the photos to look back on now. One highlight was visiting Buckingham Palace (pictured above). Westminster Abbey was also a definite highlight. While we didn't enjoy the hour-long wait very much, it did prove worth it; the inside of the abbey was absolutely beautiful, and the history there tangible.

Big Ben was unfortunately under construction, though we did enjoy seeing Tower Bridge, Admiralty Arch and Trafalgar Square.

We'd hoped to ride the London Eye Ferris wheel, though when we learned it would be another hour-long wait happily passed.

Perhaps the biggest highlight of our time in London was seeing the Broadway production of The King and I. One of my wife's favorite actresses -- Kelli O'Hara -- was performing as Anna at the Palladium Theater. Afterwards, we accidentally stumbled across the stage door and watched as performers left the theater for the night.

While our time in London was brief, we were ready to move onto France. Should we return to England, we'd probably plan to spend time outside of London and explore more of the countryside and smaller towns instead.
