Albums to Zippers: Wright County Swap Meet Made Me a Fan

I’ve never been much of a garage sale person, but I have a few friends that consider it one of the most enjoyable things they do during the summer.

After I heard about the Wright County Swappers Meet is the largest in the state, my wife said that we should check it out. I was down with that, happy wife/happy life, right? It turned out to be -- happy ME!

The Wright County Swappers Meet was what I was hoping it would be. A huge yard sale on steroids.  What I really like about the swap meet is, there are ALL KINDS of stuff you can buy. I believe there is something for everybody. No matter what you’re looking for, you’re going to find at least one thing you want, maybe even something you need.

It was like going treasure hunting, and just like the saying goes, my wife and I were on a mission to find some kind of treasure in all that ‘trash.’ That mission was accomplished, and we did find our own treasures. I bought a few golf clubs, a Vikings hat, and my wife and daughter found a few things as well.

After it was all said and done, we spent about $100. Best of all, I discovered something I really like doing – and that’s the haggling. You can’t go into some retail store and tell them you’ll give them $25 instead of $30 for a shirt, but you can at a swap meet. That was a lot of fun.

I don’t think this is going to make me suddenly be like my friends and go garage sailing, but I think I found a new thing I enjoy.
