Anonymous Donor Spreads Holiday Cheer in Big Lake

BIG LAKE -- A Big Lake couple is spreading some holiday cheer this season to others in the community.

Big Lake Police Chief Joel Scharf says the couple, who wish to remain anonymous, recently donated $2,000 to the department to help distribute it to those who need it.

Scharf says the couple are no strangers to giving as this is the third year they've given a large financial donation to the department.

The first two years they have donated $1,500 to us, but this year they added $500 to be giving to one special place inside of having it divided up.

He says this generosity has inspired others to give back as they also received another $1,300 from another community member.

Scharf says this type of generosity is the community at its best and they are happy to be apart of it.

When our officers are on a call to service and they see a family that is in hardship, they use the money to bring some immediate joy to them and it's been a blast and it's been very well placed.

He says his department is currently working on handing out the financial gifts in time before Christmas.
