This Central MN Town Has Polish Roots
Bowlus is a town of 279 people that was settled in the early 1900s, platted in 1907 and became incorporated in 1910. Bowlus has an operating post office since 1907, a lumberyard, meat market, hair salon, restaurant, gas station, liquor store, boutique, fire department, park with bike trail going through it, Legion, and Catholic Church.
New St. Cloud Mayor Talks Parking and Downtown
St. Cloud Mayor Jake Anderson has been on the job for just over a week and he made his first appearance on WJON after assuming those duties. He will appear on WJON from 8:10-8:50 every other Friday for radio town hall meetings to discuss issues and take calls and emails from listeners.
Popular Ice Fishing Contest Returning in St. Cloud Area in February
Catfish Fest is returning to the chain of lakes in Richmond in February after a year off last year due to warmer than normal weather conditions. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News says the event will take place February 14-15.
Stolen Copper in Sherburne County; Vehicle Theft in Waite Park
The Sherburne County Sheriff's Department are reporting stripped copper off irrigators on the west end of the county. Alicia Mages from Tri County Crime Stoppers says this happened sometime between December 20-24.

The St. John's and St. Ben's basketball teams both won at Augsburg in Minneapolis Wednesday night. St. John's led by 18 at halftime and held off Augsburg in the 2nd half to win 78-69. St. Ben's used a 2nd half surge to knock off Augsburg 63-44.
