Beaver Island, Spilled Grain Both Win Awards This Past Weekend
It was an award-winning weekend for two Central Minnesota craft breweries.
Saturday saw over 60 craft breweries and cideries converge on St. Cloud for the Craft Beer and Cider Fest, where Beaver Island Brewing won awards for both Brewer's Cup and Best Beer.
Their cider collaboration with Sociable Cider Werks in Minneapolis won Craft Cup, and their Sweet Miss Chocolate Oatmeal Milk Stout soaked with Vanilla and Coffee was named Best Beer.
Out in Colorado, Annandale's Spilled Grain Brewhouse was recognized at the national level. Some 800 breweries and over 4,000 beers showed up to the Great American Beer Festival. Eleven Minnesota breweries came home with a total of twelve medals including Spilled Grain Brewhouse, who won a silver medal in the category of "Other Strong Beer" for their their False Hope Wheatwine.
