Where to Find the Best Fast Food Fries in Minnesota (And What You’re Missing)
I can't think of anyone who doesn't like French fries. The average American eats 34 pounds of them each year, according to Fox News. My favorite is McDonald's fries dipped in sweet and sour sauce.
Many would say it's tough to beat McDonald's fries, but according to a 2025 ranking by Seating Masters, McDonald's landed near the bottom of the best fast-food fries list.
The study, based on over 40,000 Yelp reviews, found that the top fast food French fry in 2025 is served at In-N-Out Burger. You can find McDonald's all around Minnesota, but you won't find an In-N-Out Burger here. So, which chains with Minnesota locations scored high for their fries?
KFC had the lowest score (1.77), and McDonald's surprisingly had the second lowest at 1.91 out of 5.

You can find 7 of the Top 10 chains from this list here in Minnesota: Shake Shack, Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, Chick-fil-A, Raising Cane's, Arby's, and Hardee's.
A different study conducted by National Today showed that Minnesotans' top three favorites were McDonald's, Arby's, and Five Guys. I feel like Arby's gets forgotten about in the fry discussion, so I'm happy to see them get a little love.
