Picture this, you are out to lunch, enjoying a burger, fries, and a coke. You decide to throw a few bucks in to play e-tabs, and by the time you wrap up that burger and fries you are walking out with not only that lunch covered but maybe just enough for a down payment on a new side-by-side, or vehicle. That was the case for one Central Minnesotan this week in Waite Park.

H.R. Pesty's, a local institution on Vikings game day, as well as a great place to find a hot box of pull-tabs, was the bar that had the big jackpot winner this week. The winner walked away with more than $7,000!

The big winner netted a cool $7,482.91 while playing the Minnesota Wild Game Day Bingo on one of the bar's e-tab machines.

How much will the winner take home?

In theory, the winner will take home the full amount in a few days, by law once the win is verified, the winner will get the winnings in the form of a check in 3-business days, but if the gaming company doesn't already hold back taxes, the winner should hold back some of what they won as Uncle Sam and the State of Minnesota will also want their cut.

According to the Minnesota Lottery website, lottery winners in Minnesota should "withhold 24 percent in federal income taxes, and current Minnesota state law requires the Lottery to withhold 7.25 percent in Minnesota state income taxes."

What if it was you who won the jackpot?

It should also be noted that in a circumstance like what happened at "Pesty's" it's pretty common to buy the bar a round of something, and seeing it was lunchtime on a Monday the winner might have gotten off a little bit easier with some sodas rather than an adult beverage, but we won't judge if there was one or two that went out...

Weren't E-Tabs going away in Minnesota?

Not quite, starting in 2025 Minnesota's e-tab machine will no longer offer an 'open all' button or allow bonuses, or spinning reels as those actions don't resemble what a paper pull-tab does.
