Central Minnesota Schools Leaving Stadium Lights On For Students
We are living through crazy unprecedented times. Kids are spending the month of April learning from their homes, and schools want to show that they are still there for the children.
Minnesota schools are going to turn on stadium lights during select evening hours (Monday - Friday 8-10 PM) as a way to honor their students, staff and community members in this time of distance learning while school buildings are closed due to Covid-19 concerns.
Here are a list of schools that have so far committed to doing this via Twitter:
Holy Family Catholic
Jackson County Central
Red Rock Central
St. Anthony Village
Thief River Falls
United South Central
Little Falls is taking it one step further and welcoming the public to use their walking track:
The lights are a symbol of hope and an assurance that you are in our hearts and on our minds. We would like to extend the window for our community to get some exercise. Please remember social distancing when using the track. In order to protect our track, no pets are allowed. No scooters, bikes, or rollerblades are allowed either. The track will not be open on April 10 or April 13. Thank you!
Thank you to all school staff working so hard to make distance learning happen for kids across Minnesota. Your work is appreciated.
