Join A Heartwarming Living Nativity This Christmas Eve
There’s something especially comforting about traditions that have stood the test of time, and one local Christmas Eve tradition continues to do just that.
Living Waters Lutheran Church in Sauk Rapids is once again inviting the community to experience 'Christmas Eve in a Barn', a beloved living nativity held on the historic Pederson Farm just north of Sauk Rapids.
'CHRISTMAS EVE IN A BAR' IS A HOLIDAY FAVORITE
This isn’t a flashy production or a polished stage performance. Instead, it’s a reminder of how the Christmas story began. For more than 30 years, families from Living Waters Lutheran Church and the Pederson family have opened the barn doors to neighbors, friends, and strangers alike, welcoming everyone to visit on Christmas Eve and reflect on what the season is really about.

VISITING THE PEDERSON FARM IN SAUK RAPIDS
When you arrive at the Pederson Farm, located at 5400 Golden Spike Road NE in Sauk Rapids, you’ll step into a real barn, filled with the scent of hay and the soft sounds of live animals. A manger sits at the center, surrounded by familiar faces from the congregation portraying Mary, Joseph, shepherds, and angels.
ALL INVITED TO LISTEN TO THE NATIVITY STORY
Guests are invited to sit on hay bales, bundled up in winter coats, hats, and gloves, as the nativity story is read aloud and traditional Christmas carols fill the barn.
There’s something incredibly grounding about this event that gives us a real glimpse in what Christmas is all about. Children watch wide-eyed as the story unfolds, while adults often find themselves transported back to simpler times, remembering their own childhood Christmases.
