The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is inviting community members to learn more about a major upcoming project on Highway 24 in Clearwater. A public information meeting is set for Monday, September 29, 2025, at the Lions Park Pavilion, located at 1100 County Road 75 in Clearwater. The open-house style event will run from 4 to 6 p.m.

Unlike a traditional town hall, there won’t be a formal presentation. Instead, visitors can stop by at any time during the two-hour window to view project displays, talk one-on-one with members of the project team, and ask questions.

This event is designed to give people a chance to learn more about the construction at their own pace, while also sharing feedback directly with MnDOT staff.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

This project is being developed in partnership with the City of Clearwater and Wright County, with a strong focus on improving safety, traffic flow, and access through the area. According to MnDOT, final design work will continue through the end of 2025, with construction expected to begin in summer 2026 and finish by fall 2027.

Some of the highlights of the planned improvements include:

  • A brand-new Highway 24 bridge over Interstate 94

  • A reconstructed roadway with improved access points

  • Added multi-use trails and sidewalks for both walkers and cyclists

ABOUT THE UPGRADES

The upgrades appear to address congestion issues and create safer connections for motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists.

IF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT

If attending the meeting in person isn’t possible, residents don’t have to miss out. The project webpage will be updated after the public meeting to provide information and resources. That means you’ll still be able to see the plans, get details, and stay up to date on the process even if you can’t be there in person.

MnDOT ENCOURAGING PARTICIPATION

MnDOT is also encouraging participation from everyone who has an interest in the project, and accommodations are available for individuals who need them. Requests can be made by emailing ADARequest.dot@state.mn.us or calling 651-366-4720.

With such a large-scale project coming to Clearwater, MnDOT hopes that residents, commuters, and business owners will take advantage of this opportunity to learn more and weigh in. Whether you drive Highway 24 every day, bike through the area, or just want to know how construction may affect you in the coming years, this meeting is a chance to be part of the conversation about the future of Clearwater’s main roadway.
