Did You Know St. Cloud Changed The Downtown Street Names?
Did you know that in some other parallel universe, visiting downtown St. Cloud would SOUND a lot different on your GPS? Instead of streets being numbered, they would still have their names, and the street names they had were glorious!
I stumbled upon a post on Reddit that revealed what the street names would be downtown if they hadn't been changed to street numbers, and I'm going to admit, I kinda like the street names more than our current numbers.
Downtown St. Cloud if the roads were never changed to numbers

Reddit user River-of-ice posted the photo to the SaintCloud Reddit page.
I made my own version from the one that River-of-ice posted, and I think my favorite street name is what is now known as 2nd Street N. That street used to be called St. Augustine Street, but as you can see there was a Jefferson Ave, Percy Ave, and of course what is now known as 10th Ave, which runs under Division, was once called Prince Ave.
I tried to search for when the name change on the streets took place, but couldn't find an exact date or time that the names changed, but as we know changes often come in the name/form of progress, so whenever they were changed I'm sure it was to make it easier to navigate using numbers versus names.

But still, it makes me think just how different would a trip downtown sound if we returned to street names rather than numbers.
