First Avenue- Weddings, Halloween and Benefit Concert

First Avenue in Minneapolis, like basically every other music venue, has been closed for the better part of the pandemic.  This year has been so hard on the "live event" industry.  It's been hard on everyone, but that industry, along with the hospitality industry, seems to have been hit the hardest.

Recently, First  Avenue has opened up their venue for weddings.  Now, obviously, this isn't going to be your traditional wedding/dance type of event.  But how cool would it be to get married on the stage at First Ave?  There are some limitations.  25% capacity...that means up to about 100 or so people seated.  But these weddings generally include about 10-30 people.  There is no dance, per se, but there can be the bride and groom first dance, and there can also be the father/daughter, mother/son dances.  I see that as mostly for a video/photo opportunity.

Normally at this time of year, people are planning for a Halloween Bash.  First Ave will carry on that tradition, but this year there will be again, no dancing.  But you can sit at the tables, have some drinks, and still do the photo booth with a cool backdrop for a costume contest.  At least it's something. You can purchase advance tickets for the event.

This weekend there is a benefit that will be streaming live. The event is called "Save our Stages" Fest.  First Avenue will be hosting one of the performers, Dizzy Fae, and she will be performing live from the First Ave stage.  This is the first live performer in months.  This event will be going on all weekend.... and will be live-streamed all weekend.

Hopefully soon, we will be able to see some normalcy again.
