Another casualty of the coronavirus, Swanville's Midsummer Carnival has been canceled for 2020.

After careful thought and consideration, the Lion's Club that helps put on the event each year has made the decision to not host the 58th annual event.

After 57 consecutive years of bringing Central Minnesota the Grandaddy of ALL Carnivals, we're saddened to share that the 58 Annual Swanville Midsummer Carnival is cancelled.

We've worked diligently to plan and organize over the past months but with the restrictions implemented by the government we're unable to move forward in our planing.

If things change and gatherings are allowed they are hoping to host a late summer festival. It wouldn't include a midway (rides or games) but it gives us hope that we can have some of that amazing chicken that gets served at the event.

The Swanville Lion's Club will still be having their "BIG CASH RAFFLE" on Sunday, July 12th at Lucky's Saloon in Swanville, and ask that people continue to support local businesses at this time.

My family's lake place is in Swanville so I spend quite a bit of summer in that small town, and LOVE hitting up the carnival. I will miss my sister begging me to go on rides that make me sick, I'll miss grabbing a drink from the beer gardens, the Lion's chicken dinner, and running into friends I tend to only see at this event. I', already looking forward to summer 2021!

Stay safe and healthy everyone, we have a carnival to be at next summer.
