Five Reasons The Ledge In Waite Park Is Minnesota’s Best Concert Venue [OPINION]
Since The Ledge Amphitheater opened its doors in Waite Park in 2021, my family has tried to make a point to see -at least- one show a summer at the beautiful venue located right here in our own backyard.
In fact, just last week I took my six-year-old to his first-ever concert when we saw The Beach Boys (now with more Stamos!) at The Ledge. We had a blast!
Here are my five favorite things about The Ledge:
1. IT'S RIGHT HERE IN OUR BACKYARD
For many years going to a concert featuring a national act involved a three-hour round trip drive to the Twin Cities and/or getting an expensive hotel to crash at after the show as opposed to getting home well after midnight, potentially on a weeknight.
When my son and I went to the Beach Boys show we left the house at 7:45 p.m., got to the venue by 8 and we were home in bed by 10:15 p.m.!
2. FREE PARKING
One of the worst parts about going to a show in 'the cities' is the insane parking rates (on top of the money spent on gas)! The last show I saw at Xcel Energy Center had an average parking price of $40 for spots that weren't even really that close to the arena.
The Ledge has ample free parking and, if you are lucky, you might even catch a golf cart shuttle to the front door like we did on our way into the show!
3. NO BAD SEATS
At The Beach Boys concert we had some of the 'worst seats' in the venue- 200 level, side of the stage- but we had a GREAT view of every band member (even John Stamos!) and video screen. The addition of the two video boards on either side of the stage was a great add, too.
Whether you are up front or far away, you will get your money's worth!
4. GREAT FOOD VARIETY
I admittedly don't drink much, so I don't have much to say about the beer/booze situation. However, I do love pizza and ice cream and The Ledge had both on hand for our concert last week. The rotating food truck setup is a really great idea that makes every visit unique.
5. FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL STAFF
The staff did a great job greeting us as we entered (after our awesome golf cart ride, too), the security was plentiful but not overbearing and the vendors all had smiles on their faces. Customer service can be hit-or-miss in 2024, but we had a great experience with the folks at The Ledge and, frankly, we always have!
I could go on and on about ALL the stuff I love about The Ledge (the awesome gathering areas, the picturesque quarries, the comfortable seats), but these are the five I narrowed it down to.
