Flags at Half-Staff in Honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day
ST. PAUL -- Governor Tim Walz is ordering flags at state and federal buildings to be flown at half-staff on Friday.
Walz says over 11,000 peace officers currently serve Minnesota. In the state’s history, a total of 271 members of law enforcement have lost their lives on the job.
The first Peace Officers Memorial Day was declared on May 15th, 1962 by President John F. Kennedy.
