Four Minnesota women have solidified their spots on Team USA Gymnastics for the upcoming Tokyo event. These incredibly talented and dedicated women will be heading to the games to show what Team USA (and Minnesotans) are made of.

Sunisa Lee of St. Paul will be competing in artistic gymnastics and is no stranger to the world’s stage. In 2019 she competed for a World Championship title and won gold for the team, a silver medal on floor, a bronze medal for uneven bars, and came in 8th for all-around. Sunisa is going to Auburn University and on track to graduate in 2025, and her Team USA bio said that when she’s not practicing, she enjoys going camping.

Kiana Eide will be competing for Team USA in Rhythmic Gymnastics, which is the competition where athletes take to the floor to perform with hoops, balls, clubs, ribbons, or ropes. The sport is a blend of dance and calisthenics. Kiana was born in Fridley but her hometown is St. Francis, and she is a graduate of Glenbrook North High School (Northbrook, Ill.) '17. Kiana has previous Olympic experience, taking 14th at the Rio games in 2016. She also was a member of the six-person team that gave the U.S. its first earned Olympic spot in rhythmic group competition in 2015.

Grace McCallum is the third Minnesota competitor joining Team USA. Grace participates in artistic gymnastics and is from Isanti, Minnesota. Grae has previous world championship experience in both 2018 and 2019, and has taken home two medals in the past. She is the second of six siblings and said she likes to spend free time swimming and tubing at the lake.

Maggie Nichols of Little Canada Minnesota will also be heading to Tokyo. Maggie's discipline is artistic gymnastics and is a 2015 graduate of Roseville High School. Maggie has previous experience in brining home medals from various competitions from 2013-2015. Maggie shared that her hobbies include biking, swimming, reading, watching movies, and walking her dog, and he favorite food is shrimp.

The Tokyo Olympics will be taking place from Friday, July 23 through August 8th. We can't wait to cheer on our Minnesota competitors and all of Team USA.
