Let's be honest, this is a circle of trust... and I'm feeling a bit freaked out today.

I get up this morning, and get the normal routine going.  coffee, get the dog food, take him out, blah blah blah.  But then, I walk out the front door and there is this fox just sitting in the middle of the road staring at my house.  Ummm... what's going on?

I just stop and decide that maybe this isn't the best time to be taking the dog out to do his business.  But on the other hand, he has to go!  And no one, least of all me, wants to clean up a mess because he couldn't get outside.  Now, I'm not really thinking this fox is going to attack me, but my little dog?  Maybe.

Then, I notice another one running around the neighbor's house across the street.  So, I wait a minute, and try again.  This time, the fox is no longer sitting there staring at my house, and he's really no where to be seen.  Until... I start walking out the door.  THERE HE IS AGAIN!  This time, he's running towards my house, and his friend is not far behind.

Ok, now I'm actually starting to quickly walk/jog back up to the house.  I get back in, and now my dog is starting to get very anxious because ya know, hasn't been able to go!

I wait again, looking outside and now I can't see either one of the foxes.  Hopefully they ran back into the woods.  I take my dog out, and he goes, and we hurry back into the house.

ARE FOXES IN THE MIDWEST AGGRESSIVE?

Now, I'm curious.  Are foxes normally aggressive?  I didn't think so, so I get out the Google machine and look it up.  Foxes are not typically aggressive.  They normally will flee when they see a human... unless they have babies nearby or they are rabid, which is very rare.

WHEN WILL A FOX HANG AROUND HUMANS?

A fox will also hang out in your yard of they think that there is a chance for food.  So it might be a good idea to keep any food type items inside.  Especially if you live near a wooded area, like I do, just to be on the safe side.  So, if you have been grilling, which a lot of people do this time of year, make sure to clean everything up when you are done.

Good grief, that was an experience this morning.  Even if the fo had no intention of doing anything, it was very unnerving walking out the door with this fox just sitting, literally sitting in the middle of the road staring at the house.  No thank you!

How was your morning?
