There are really only a handful of singer-songwriters in the history music that made a long term impact on pop culture. Some of them being Bob Dylan, Bob Seger, Kurt Cobain, Bruce Springsteen and James Taylor.

Of course, another name that has to make the list is the one and only – Tom Petty. Tom was one of the most influential songwriters of all time. I didn’t really appreciate his music until after his untimely passing, but now looking back at his catalogue of music, I have a new found respect for it.

For obvious reasons you won’t be able to see Mr. Petty perform those songs live anymore. You can, however, see “Free Fallin” perform Saturday, December 1st at the Le Musique Room in St. Michael.

They’re one of the best Tom Petty tribute groups around. It’s definitely worth checking out. The show starts at 8 pm and you can purchase a ticket online now for as cheap as $29.
