Maybe it’s just my libertarian, hippie instincts coming out, but I’m always baffled when I meet a climate change denier. The evidence is in, and it’s as much of a scientific fact as gravity. Only a very small percentage of the worlds elite scientists don’t believe that severe climate change is due to human activities, such as burning fossil fuels and toxic carbon emissions.

In my better moments, I try to think like a scientist. Whatever hypothesis happens to have the most amount of physical evidence is most likely to be objectively true. And like it or not, there is a stunning amount of evidence that supports the hypothesis that humans are contributing to global warming.

It’s an uncomfortable fact, but a fact none-the-less. Addressing climate change may easily be the most important socio-political issue of our time. After all, if we don’t have a planet to inhabit our species will go extinct.

If you’re interested in learning about how to effectively combat climate change in your community, you can check out the Talk Climate Institute on March 12th and 13th  from 9 AM to 5 PM at the Wilder Center in St. Paul. They aren’t accepting walk-ins, but the registration fee in only $80. It’s a small price to pay for a good cause.
