Oh yes, the holidays. The time of year when you have every excuse to gorge yourself beyond all imagination. It’s the time of the year that we all pack on weight before New Years comes around and we make it our resolution to lose all of the weight that we just gained. It’s tradition.

But just how much weight do Americans gain in the winter? Studies say the average American gains seven to ten pounds in between Halloween and New Years Day. I find this terrifying but believable. Three months of candy and various other enormous meals you'll share with family and friends adds up after a few months.

So, just how long will it take you to shed all of those extra holiday pounds? Studies report that on average, people looking to shed 10 pounds will do so over the course of seven weeks. That's nearly two months. Depressing right? It actually just makes me want to eat more.
