A Famous Minnesota Comedian Is Getting A Netflix Documentary
I've always loved Maria Bamford's stand-up comedy. There truly is nothing like it, and I don't think anyone else could pull off what she does on stage. Then, when I learned she was born and raised in Minnesota, I became an even bigger fan!
Maria Bamford is featured in 'Paralyzed by Hope: The Maria Bamford Story.' The documentary is from Judd Apatow and features interviews with famous comedians, Maria herself, and tons of clips and even childhood footage.
In the trailer, some of the celebrities interviewed include Conan O'Brien, Patton Oswalt, and Stephen Colbert. Colbert calls Maria his favorite comedian.
Maria attended special screenings of the film across the United States, along with several stops in the Midwest, including her hometown of Duluth, Minnesota.
Bamford was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota. She attended Chester Park Elementary School and Duluth Marshall.
After graduating high school, she attended Maine University for a short time before ultimately receiving her degree from the University of Minnesota. She did her first stand-up show at the age of 19 in Minneapolis at Stevie Ray's Comedy Cabaret.
