Popular Grocery Retailer To Close All Minnesota Stores On Same Day
It's easy to take our favorite places to shop for granted as we get used to when they're open, and if you're like me, you sometimes race in just before they close to grab what you need for the rest of the week.
That's why it's helpful to know when those stores may be unexpectedly closed, which is what is happening soon with one of the most popular retail chains in the country, and while it's understandable, the timing couldn't be worse for a funny reason
Sunday, April 20, is Easter Sunday, and it's also somewhat of a holiday for those who use marijuana in Minnesota. As of August 2023, Minnesota allowed the possession, use, and home cultivation of cannabis for individuals aged 21 and older, thus making Minnesota the 23rd state in the US to legalize cannabis use for people 21 and older.
For those who are wondering why 'four-twenty' is a big deal, it's a marijuana slang word used for weed consumption. So, it would be safe to assume that those who partake will likely be looking to get high at 4:20 p.m. on 4/20.
Unfortunately, on the day when majijuana users will likely get an incredible case of the munchies, and others will be looking to grab last-minute supplies for Easer Sunday gatherings, a huge source for groceries and more announced it will be closed on April 20, while also letting customers know all the other days they will be closed in 2025.
Costco Announces 2025 Store Closures
Costco is one of the most popular retailers in the U.S. As of March 15, 2025, there are 627 Costco stores in the United States, including Puerto Rico. As of November 2024, there are 14 Costco stores in Minnesota, and every single one of them will be closed on April 20.
Of course, Costco closing stores on that day has nothing to do with marijuana; it has everything to do with being closed in observance of Easter Sunday, allowing employees to spend time with their loved ones.
Here are the remaining days in 2025 when all Costco stores will be closed across the United States:
- Easter Sunday
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day

Hopefully, you get to spend Easter Sunday with those you hold dear, and if you also plan on participating in the other 420, be sure to stock up on those munchies ahead of time! However, you may be getting chocolate Easter bunnies or Reese's Easter Eggs on that day, and those should do the trick!
