Colorful Sea Of 40,000 Tulips Blooming Right Now At This Minnesota Destination
An exciting and colorful sign of spring has finally arrived in Minnesota!
Just yesterday (April 28), the home of the largest garden of tulips in Minnesota announced that their gardens have started to bloom!
If the idea of touring a rainbow sea of tens of thousands of tulips sounds like your idea of a great spring day, now is the time to make your trip to this popular springtime destination.
The bloom is underway at 'The Arb'!
Each year, the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum welcomes visitors to the Twin Cities area to check out the beautiful blooms that span their 1,200-acre facility in Chaska, Minnesota.
The facility shows off a huge variety of plant life that can survive Minnesota's weather extremes. From flowering plants like tulips and daffodils to magnolias and other trees, shrubs, and garden plants, there's a lot to see throughout the year.

One of the big draws each spring is the tulip bloom. The start date of this fleeting burst of color from these springtime plants varies a little from year to year, often sometime in April or May.
The Arboretum has about 40,000 tulips in a group of gardens with walking paths through them, offering a wonderful rainbow walk when they bloom.
The team at the Arboretum just shared on Tuesday (April 29) that the bloom is getting underway now!
While it is the early stages of this bloom right now, it is a good idea to plan out your trip as soon as you can. Tulips usually bloom for a couple of weeks under the perfect weather conditions, so you don't have a ton of time to check them out.
What can you expect on a tulip tour at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum?
I've been there a few years, visiting during different stages of the bloom. Each time has been absolutely beautiful!
The nice thing about the tulip gardens is that they are expansive and photo-friendly, but they are also near the main buildings, making them easy to access for people of all ages and mobilities.
Besides the tulips, there is a lot more to see! I'll get into that in a moment.

If you're paying a visit, they are open 7 days a week, welcoming guests from 8 am to 7 pm. Hours for certain buildings may vary, with some being closed on certain days of the week. You can learn more about their hours here.
The final thing to know is that it is highly recommended to buy tickets in advance, via their website. This will ensure you are able to visit on the day you want to visit, plus it will speed up your entry process.
What else is there to see at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum?
In short, a lot!
With 1,200 acres of land and lots of trees and plants of all sorts covering the grounds, there's always a lot to see.
There are a number of different gardens near the main buildings, but also some hiking trails and a road tour you can go on to explore a variety of other vegetation like trees, shrubs, and more. I'd highly recommend doing this.
In addition, the Arboretum is highlighting what is in bloom right now, giving you things to look forward to seeing, particularly in springtime.
Along with the tulips joining the mix, the Arboretum highlights other things in bloom on its website
As of the time this article is being written, they are also highlighting other flowering plants like magnolia, crocus, Korean rhododendron, and more.
