Sun Country Offering Discounts to Seattle for Fans of Minnesota Aurora

Here is the backstory - just in general terms, if you are a sports team, and you have won most of your games, when it comes to hosting the playoffs, at one point or another you will get home field advantage.  That is the case across the board.  So, when the Minnesota Aurora FC did just that, they put in a bid to host here in Minnesota.  That bid was denied.

OFFICIALS TOOK TO SOCIAL MEDIA TO EXPRESS DISAPPOINTMENT

The team and Aurora officials took to social media to express their disappointment, and also the somewhat of a solution to get fans to the playoff game in Seattle.

From Fox 9:

"We are incredibly frustrated that our bid to host the semifinals in Minnesota has been denied. As the only team that traveled for the conference playoffs and with the best record in the league, a premier facility in TCO Stadium, and the strongest fan support in the USL W, Aurora has earned the right to host. This decision disregards player safety and well-being, forcing our team into a cross-country trip from the East Coast to the West Coast, crossing 3 time zones in barely over 72 hours, providing minimal recovery time and significantly increasing risk of injury.

IT EVEN GETS WORSE FOR FANS IN MINNESOTA

Besides moving the game to Seattle, the game will also air at 9:30 Central Time, as Seattle is on the West Coast, and the time is two hours earlier.  So, it starts at a regular time of 7:30.  It's a tough go for fans in the Central Time Zone.

HERE IS THE SOLUTION THAT THE AURORA AND SUN COUNTRY HAVE

Aurora and Sun Country Airlines have partnered together to offer 50% off specific flights to Seattle to get to the game. Aurora is also offering 20% off game tickets, once you book your flight through the discount.  So, that does seem like a win, or at least as much of one that you can have with the situation.  But, we all know that this isn't really fair to one of the most winning teams in the league, and their fans who have been selling out TCO stadium all season long.

Minnesota Aurora FC will face Salmon Bay FC Saturday night at Interbay Stadium in Seattle. The winner will then advance to the Championiship game.
