New Foods at the State Fair – Here are the Oddest Ones – Also Intriguing
New foods at the State Fair. It's always the best part of the fair. The two biggest reasons for going to the fair are first - the food and second the people watching. Or, maybe that is just me. But the food is definitely on everyone's list. That's the fun of going to the fair. You get to give up on healthy eating for one day.
The list of new foods at the state fair just came out, and some of them look so good and a couple of them you might be raising an eyebrow at. But if you think about it, every year they need to come out with something new - so of course there are going to be a couple of questionable ones.
PICKLE PIE - Available at LuLu's Public House

I love pickles! And there is also cream cheese. But a pie?? As my mother said, if it's made with good ingredients, it should be good. So, why not give it a whirl? It's odd, but also sounds delicious.
Description: Pie crust filled with a blend of chopped pickles, pickle juice and cream cheese. Topped with homemade savory whipped frosting made with ranch and Cholula Hot Sauce. Garnished with a gherkin and a sprinkle of dill. (Vegetarian)
SURF N TURF BURGER - Available at Cafe Caribe

Burger - good! Lobster - good (if you like that sort of thing) But together? Hmmm could be questionable. I feel like both are good, but mixing those two could give a strange sensation. But, if you like both of them, why not give it a go? It also sounds like it will be a bit spicy. So keep that in mind. Make sure to have a beverage handy.
Description: Lobster tossed in garlic-herb butter stacked on a 1/3-pound seasoned grilled beef patty topped with pepper jack cheese. Drizzled with homemade chipotle mayo, served on a toasted brioche bun with a lemon wedge.

FRENCH CHOUXNUT SUNDAE - Available at Bridgeman's
How can you possibly go wrong with ice cream? Short answer, you really can't. This mixture sounds interesting to say the least. It sounds very rich. Maybe try towards the beginning of your day at the fair. That way, you can walk it off, or better yet, share this delectible concoction.
Description: Bridgeman's Salted Caramel Espresso ice cream piled atop a choux pastry donut filled with milk chocolate mousse and topped with dark chocolate fondant icing and chocolate curls. Finished with caramel drizzle, whipped cream and a cherry. (Vegetarian)
DILL IT WITH COOKIE - Available at Urban Glow Mocktails

First thought - YUCK! I mean cookie - good! Dill pickle - good! The two mixed together? That does not sound appetizing AT ALL! But maybe these flavors will work together well for your tastebuds. If you go to the fair and you happen to try this one, please let me know how it is. I will take your word for it, whichever way you lean.
Description: White chocolate chips, finely chopped dill pickles and fresh dill baked into a cookie. Finished with a sprinkle of sugar and Maldon sea salt. Created by Holman's Table. (Vegetarian)
You can see all of the new foods offered this year (and there are a lot) right here on the fair's website.
