Johnnies Football is NCAA D-III Playoff Bound

The #6 St. John's Johnnies (9-1) were awarded an NCAA D-III at-large playoff bid this afternoon, and will travel to Illinois Saturday to face #9 North Central (9-1) in the first round of the postseason.

Only five teams earned at-large berths, with the rest of 32 slots being filled by conference champions. This will be SJU's fourth consecutive playoff appearance.

Three wins in the postseason by both St. John's and St. Thomas would have the two teams playing for the D-III national title on December 15th in Salem, Virginia. Sure it's a long shot, but how fun would that be.

St. Thomas will play at home on Saturday against Eureka College (8-2) from Illinois.

The NCAA D-II playoff bracket was also released this afternoon, with both MSU-Mankato and Winona State making the cut.
