If you have been following the pre-Olympics, you have heard about Alpine skiier Lindsey Vonn and her journey back to competing in this year's Olympics.

Vonn is a 3 time medalist in previous Olympics, but had to stop competing because of an injury that looked to end her skiing career.  She has fought her way back after surgery, rehab and training to qualify for this year's winter Olympics in Milan Cortina.

And then, as "luck" would have it, Vonn had a crash at the World Cup and ruptured her ACL.  Guess what, she still plans on competing at the Olympic games which begin this weekend.

LINDSEY VONN THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS ABOUT THE GAMES

From NBC News:

"I know what my chances were before the crash and I know my chances aren’t the same as it stands today," she told reporters.

"But I know there’s still a chance, and as long as there’s a chance, I will try."

Vonn was skiing in the downhill event at the Alpine Ski World Cup in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, on Friday when she lost control coming out of a jump.

"I am not letting this slip through my fingers," she said. "I’m not crying. My head is high, I’m standing tall and I’m going to do my best and whatever the result is.

EVERYONE LOVES A COMBACK STORY AND WE HOPE IT GOES WELL

If you think about it from her perspective and how hard she's battled to get back into competition shape, and actually qualifying for the Winter Olympics at the age of 41, most everyone will be rooting for her to succeed.  Definitely something to look forward to, and hoping and praying that her injury doesn't inhibit her or get any worse.

The Winter Olympics begin this weekend and continue through February 22.
