The movie industry seems to be recovering quickly from the dark days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Recent releases like Spider Man Far From Home and The Batman have seen their box office totals at least approach what they may have reached pre-pandemic.

With that being said, Marcus Parkwood Cinema is bringing back some classics this spring. From 1977's "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" to 2008's "Step Brothers," the theater is inviting folks to relive some of their favorite cinema classics... or check them out for the first time on the big screen!

Here's a look at the movies and dates for the "Retro Favorites" series at Parkwood.

APRIL 10, 11, 13 - CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND

"After an encounter with U.F.O.s, a line worker feels undeniably drawn to an isolated area in the wilderness where something spectacular is about to happen."

APRIL 17, 18, 20 - PINEAPPLE EXPRESS

"Ride high on the Pineapple Express, the outrageously hysterical blockbuster from Judd Apatow, the director and screenwriter of Knocked Up. A lazy stoner (Seth Rogen) is the sole witness to a murder by an evil drug lord (Gary Cole) and a corrupt cop (Rosie Perez). Marked for death, he runs for his life, dragging his dazed dealer (James Franco) and his supplier (Danny McBride) with him on a hilarious pot-fueled adventure. Directed by David Gordon Green. Screenplay by Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg."

APRIL 24, 25, 27 - EASY A

"In this charming, critically acclaimed tale of rumors and reputation, Olive (Emma Stone), an average high school student, sees her below-the-radar existence turn around overnight once she decides to use the school's gossip grapevine to advance her social standing. Now her classmates (Amanda Bynes, Aly Michalka) are turning against her and the school board is becoming concerned, including her favorite teacher (Thomas Haden Church) and the distracted guidance counselor (Lisa Kudrow). With the support of her hilariously idiosyncratic parents (Stanley Tucci, Patricia Clarkson) and a little help from a long-time crush (Penn Badgley), Olive attempts to take on her notorious new identity and crush the rumor mill once and for all."

MAY 1, 2, 4 - THE KARATE KID

"See how the #CobraKai saga began with the classic coming-of-age story THE KARATE KID!"

MAY 8, 9, 11 - STEEL MAGNOLIAS

"Six divas of the silver screen - Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah, Olympia Dukakis and Julia Roberts - come together as bosom buddies in this hilarious and heartwarming story of life, love and loss in a small Louisiana parish. At the center of the group is Shelby Eatenton (Julia Roberts), newly married and joyfully pregnant, despite the fact that her diabetes could make childbirth life-threatening."

MAY 15, 16, 18 - LABYRINTH

"Teenage Sarah is left to babysit her baby brother Toby and he will not stop crying. So Sarah tries to put the baby to sleep by reading him a story. When she accidentally conjures up the Goblin King from the fantasy, he steals the baby and takes him to his castle, which is in the middle of a labyrinth. Now Sarah must solve the labyrinth by midnight, or Toby will be turned into a goblin."

MAY 22, 23, 25 - STEP BROTHERS

"Brennan Huff, a sporadically employed thirty-nine-year-old who lives with his mother, Nancy. Dale Doback, a terminally unemployed forty-year-old who lives with his father, Robert. When Robert and Nancy marry and move in together, Brennan and Dale are forced to live with each other as step brothers. As their narcissism and downright aggressive laziness threaten to tear the family apart, these two middle-aged, immature, overgrown boys will orchestrate an insane, elaborate plan to bring their parents back together. To pull it off, they must form an unlikely bond that maybe, just maybe, will finally get them out of the house."
