Meet The Newest Furry Addition To The Minnesota Wild Team
THE MINNESOTA WILD HAS A NEW DOG
The Minnesota Wild are at it again; Bringing a brand new pup to the team!
Meet Rookie! Rookie is just a baby at only 4 months old. Rookie is a rescue from Coco's Heart Dog Rescue. The 4-month-old female Labrador Retriever is on a one-year training contract, where she will be trained to be someone's service dog.
Rookie joins the Wild's 'Adopt A Dog' program, whose mission is to 'give a local hero, a hero of their own.'
WHO WILL BE TAKING CARE OF ROOKIE?
So who is going to be raising Rookie while he's in training? Wayne Peterson and his wife Kelly McGrath. Wayne is the Minnesota Wild's Senior Director of Communications Relations and Hockey Partnerships, and his wife Kelly is Vice President and General Manager of the Xcel Energy Center.
SOLDIER'S 6
After Rookie's one-year with the Minnesota Wild, she will go on to train with Soldier 6, and then be placed in her permanent home with a veteran who has suffered from PTSD as a 'Battle Buddy,' to help them get through those tough days that many of our veterans go through after returning to civilian life after serving our country.
Wayner Peterson said, “My family and I are thrilled to be involved in the sixth season of the Adopt-A-Dog Program. These dogs have become a mainstay for both our fans and our employees each year. We’re excited for Rookie to not only touch the lives of those of us with the Wild but to also make her impact with Soldier’s 6 and her Battle Buddy family upon graduation.”
