Check Out The Quirky Cereal Choices Across The Midwest
When it comes to breakfast cereals, everyone has a favorite. Maybe you prefer a sugary start to the day with Cookie Crisp or Trix. Perhaps a healthier choice like Honey Bunches of Oats or Shredded Wheat?
With so many choices and flavors, it seems hard to believe that Minnesota's favorite cereal is so... boring.
Concordia-St. Paul recently studied Google Trends data to discover which cereal was each of the United States' favorite. The most popular cereal overall in the USA is Froot Loops, which was number one in 13 different states.
Next on the list were Rice Krispies and Cheerios, which were tops in five states each.
In the Midwest, Iowa prefers Cap'n Crunch (the only state to choose that brand), Wisconsin favors Rice Krispies and residents of Illinois choose Cookie Crisp. North Dakotans' favorite cereal is allegedly Special K.
In Minnesota, home of massive cereal maker General Mills, our favorite cereal is among the most boring breakfast choices of all: Wheaties. Nothing against a bowl of Wheaties (which for me isn't complete until it is topped with some sugar and a generous helping of sliced bananas), but I think I will go for something with a little more flavor in the morning!
Minnesota was the only state to choose Wheaties as its favorite.
