Minnesota Sportswriter Under Fire For Randy Moss ‘Scoop’
In an emotional announcement on ESPN last week, former Vikings wide receiver and Hall of Fame member Randy Moss announced that he was dealing with a health issue while imploring viewers to get bloodwork and checkups done.
"I just ask for all the prayer warriors to put their blessing hands on me and my family through these hard times. People were talking about my eyes last week," Moss said before putting on a pair of sunglasses. "I'm battling something, man, and it's something internal, your boy is going to get through it. I got a great team of doctors and got a great family around me."
Moss did not get into any specifics regarding his condition but did say he would be stepping away from his duties on ESPN for 'an extended time,' per NFL.com.
On Tuesday, Minnesota-based reporter Larry Fitzgerald, Sr. went on social media and chimed in on Moss' situation, noting that he had 'heard' Moss was dealing with liver cancer.
However, it turns out that the news was apparently NOT Fitzgerald's to share... as made clear by Randy Moss' son, Thaddeus. Responding to a post from Brett Favre, the younger Moss said that Fitzgerald's post was 'not true.'
Thaddeus Moss added (in a separate post) :
"This is disgusting. You have no right to try to make private matters public for the sake of engagement. I do not believe my father talks to you , so check your f****g sources"
Moss, 47, played for the Vikings from 1998 through 2004 (and for four games in 2010), racking up 9,316 yards on 982 catches with 92 receiving touchdowns. After being traded to the Oakland Raiders and playing there for a pair of seasons, he formed a memorable tandem with Tom Brady in New England for just over three seasons.
Moss was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.
