Minnesota Will See Less Karen’s – But Probably Not Less “Karen’s”
You'll probably run into fewer people named Karen in the future. The odds are you don't run into a lot of Karen's anyway -- and I mean people named Karen, not people referred to as a "Karen."
Babycenter.com released its list of the most popular baby names for 2020. The name Karen was big in the 1950s and the early 1960s. In fact, it was consistently a Top 5 name for about a decade. Then in the mid to late 60s, the name started to fall. It currently sits at #1,178.
Top 5 has changed drastically over the last few decades. More so for the girl names. The boy's names didn't change much until recently. Check out the Top 5 names nationwide from Babycenter.com and the Top 5 for Minnesota as well.
Sidenote: Because of the death of Kobe Bryant, the name Kobe had a huge increase. A jump of 175%. I'm going to guess that a significant percentage of that is in the state of California.
