There are many things that look a lot different at night than they do during the daytime hours.  And sometimes that difference is really cool.  Case in point - the Minnesota Zoo.  They have two events coming up that are "after hours" events.

The first one is coming up this Saturday, March 21st.

This one actually gives you some of both the daylight and the nighttime experience.  It's the Zoo After Hours: Equinox Edition.  It runs this Saturday from 5:30 to 8:30pm.  So, with the fact that we are now back to Daylight Saving Time, you will get some daylight until just after 7pm, so if the daytime is what you prefer, there is that option.  If you would like more of the nighttime experience, there also that.

WHAT IS THE ZOO AFTER HOURS

This is an 18 + event.

Whether you’re a winter hibernator or a spring chicken, Zoo After Hours bridges the best of both seasons! Winter-types can relax with a sound bath session or cozy up fireside. Or put some spring in your step and head outside for nocturnal trail talks and enjoying a whiskey cocktail for purchase on Treetop Trail, thanks to Keepers Heart. Bring your buds or a date for an evening in the company of animals. You won’t want to miss Royal Credit Union Sea Lion Discovery shows, up-close animal encounters, and fresh chef’s specials and Keepers Heart signature drinks. Study up on the seasons because Trivia Mafia will be here!

THERE WILL ALSO BE SOME GREAT FOOD - INSPIRED BY IRELAND

I love it when there is themed food options.  St. Patrick's Day is tomorrow (Tuesday) and we are still celebrating the Irish.  Even though this event is taking place after the official St. Patrick's Day.

Here is what you can expect for food options:  Guinness beef stew, classic Reuben on marble rye, Irish nachos, and corned beef & cabbage pizza.

What do you think of that last one?  Corned Beef and Cabbage Pizza.  Hmmmm... interesting.  That's one of those things where I would ask for a bite of someone elses before I would commit to an entire piece myself.

For the less adventurous person (like me) there will also be some burgers, pizza and chicken tenders.

COSTUME CONTEST, AND MORE FUN THINGS

Prizes provided by the Minnesota Lottery, so you know they have money.  Also if you are curious about a costume contest, what is it?  The Spring Equinox is equal hours of daylight and night skies – and should inspire your outfit for the evening!
