No theories here -- it's a fact that Minnesota is producing some of the best craft beer in the country.

Of course, we all knew that. But now the rest of the country knows it too, thanks to a recent article by Thrillist titled "32 Hottest Breweries in American Right Now."

Barrel Theory Brewing out of St. Paul was recognized as a hot brewery producing some awesome craft beer. The article goes on to share how Barrel Theory was started by former members of Surly Brewing -- the grandfather of great Minnesota craft beer -- back in 2017. "Barrel Theory," the article continues, "is the principle that a barrel’s capacity is only as much as its shortest stave. In brewery terms, you’re only as good as your 'worst' beer."

I can attest to the truth of the next few words of the article -- "But there’s hardly a worst beer here."

Barrel Theory's mission is "to provide you with an exceptional product and a high quality customer experience in our brewery and taproom located in the Lowertown neighborhood of Saint Paul."

Being the craft beer enthusiasts and bloggers that we are, my wife Katie and I had been hearing great things about Barrel Theory for quite some time. We finally made a visit of our own about a month ago, and all the rumors were true -- the space and vibe were inviting and cool, the patio was perfect for summer, and the beers were some of the best tasting and most experimental we'd ever had.

If you're ever up for an adventure for a great Minnesota beer, make a trip to Barrel Theory in downtown St. Paul.
