We have been hearing a lot more about how things being stolen in retail businesses is at an all time high.  It really started to become more of an issue during and right after the COVID pandemic.

This mostly stems from less staff, central checkouts in retail department stores, loss prevention people not being able to cover as much ground as before, and just people in desperate situations.

Having worked several jobs in the retail industry over the years, I can absolutely see how there have been theft issues rise up.  I would find clothing stashed in various places througout the store where people, would-be thieves would make a plan to come back and pick up their haul.  Myself, along with other employees would just wander around the store making sure that things were where they were supposed to be.

When it comes to big box stores, such as Walmart, things are a bit different.  Walmart has had to lock down their underwear, deoderant and now, MEAT!  Yes, the meat in some Walmart stores is now carrying an anti-theft device.

The lockups and anti-theft devices are not in every Walmart store.  It's only in stores where theft has been an issue.  So, it depends on where the store is located if they will have anti-theft practices in place or not.

People that are encountering the anti-theft devices on meat are not happy about it at all, either.  I wonder why...

So far, it doesn't look like the Walmart stores in the St. Cloud area have these devices...yet.  But don't be surprised if they are implemented soon.  Or at least in the near future.
